Zealand's acquisition of Ansett Air Lines one primary task for Air New
Zealand Revenue Accounting Department was to identify unearned revenue
within Ansett Air Lines. This process involved analysing over 30 million
unmatched sales transactions and boarding passes. |

Boston Software,
working in collaboration with the accounting staff of Air New Zealand,
designed and developed a data mart to analyse the unearned revenues. Boston
Software developed algorithms to match more than 30 million sale transactions
to boarding passes.
These elegant PL/SQL algorithms developed by Boston Software for
transforming the unearned revenue into earned revenue were audited
and approved by Ansett’s auditing agency - Arthur Anderson.
Data mart was used to identify and declare unearned revenue for
each month for the period between 1995 and 2002.

and developed a revenue reporting system which enabled the Air New
Zealand finance data warehouse to produce a set of diverse reports.
These included revenue reports for domestic and international routes,
revenue per kilometre (RPK) reports, and passenger kilometre reports
